Pittsburgh Steelers get “Tebow’d” 29-23 in Wildcard Overtime

Pittsburgh Steelers get “Tebow’d” 29-23 in Wildcard Overtime

At the end of the first quarter it actually looked as if Pittsburgh was going to have no problem winning the game having two field goals and moving the ball pretty well.  Denver seemingly could not do anything in the first quarter.  Then the second quarter came which had the Broncos scoring 20 unanswered points including a 30 yard touchdown pass and an 8 yard touchdown run by Tim Tebow.   Ironically the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow spent most of the game starting their drives from at or behind the 25 yard line so its not like they were getting great field position or anything.   Tim Tebow outplayed Ben Roesthlisberger by mile and I really cannot wait to see what Skip Bayless has to say tomorrow on First Take.  I would venture to say that... [Read more...]

Oklahoma to the Pac-12?

Oklahoma to the Pac-12?

According the ESPN there is a lot of leadership at Oklahoma that is still interested in moving to the Pac-12 from their current conference the Big 12.  They are also reporting that Texas officials met with Oklahoma big wigs and they left Norman feeling very doubtful that Oklahoma would be staying.  What does this mean for the Big 12?  Well there are a whole lot of situations at this point the worst one of which being that both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State move over to the Pac-12.  That would leave the Big 12 in a very bad position.  Texas has already made it clear that it would not consider a 7 team Big 12 viable.  We all know what has happened since last year when Colorado and Nebraska decided to go elsewhere.  Now Texas A&M, Oklahoma,... [Read more...]

UTSA Football Season Officially Open!

UTSA Football Season Officially Open!

The UTSA Roadrunners will be playing their first football game in school history.  For the first time their students will be able to have a big sport to cheer for and a great place to go for them.  They will be playing all of their home games at the Alamodome (also where the Alamobowl is played and has seats for up to 70,000+ people).  Former Miami Hurricane Head Coach Larry Coker will be coaching the team and we should expect some pretty interesting things as their first season of football gets underway.  We can hope for at least a .500 record as they will be moving up to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) as of 2012.  Playing in the FCS (Division 1-AA) should not be all that hard or we might be looking at a program that could take... [Read more...]

Week 2 Division 2 Football Scores

Week 2 Division 2 Football Scores

West Texas A&M drops out of the top 25 for the first time in two seasons with a loss to Central Oklahoma.  Things are not looking good for the Buffaloes as they have dropped the first two games of the season.  Texas A&M Kingsville, however, has had a huge turn around season winning their first two games of the season including opening up against Delta State.  What surprises me the most I think is how Northwest Missouri is still ranked ahead of Kingsville even though they have lost a game.  Their strength of schedule must be rediculous.  Abilene Christian is off to their usually slaughter of every team they place winning their first game against the #2 team in the nation at the time Northwest Missouri and then crushing this past... [Read more...]

US High School Top 25 – MaxPreps

US High School Top 25 – MaxPreps

MaxPreps’ XCELLENT 25 has come out and it actually features 4 high schools from Texas.  Would you believe that once again California, Florida, and Texas account for nearly half the teams in the top 25?  Considering the best athletes tend to come out of those states, I’m not really surprised.  Aledo is the lone wolf of the group from Texas however, being the only team of 4A status in the group.  The others are much larger schools with more talent to choose from.  I look forward to seeing some of their games this season.  SidelineBlog will have members represented at a lot of these three teams games this season and will be posting video footage of most of them.  Here is the Top 25 High School Football teams brought to you by... [Read more...]

Women’s Soccer is Back! United States Defies Ref’s Bad Calls.

Women’s Soccer is Back! United States Defies Ref’s Bad Calls.

The United States has finally come out from underneath Mia Hamm’s extremely large shadow.  This game is obviously going to go down as a top 10 game of all time in either Women’s or Men’s soccer.  It was not because the United States scored the latest goal in Women’s World Cup history and its not even because its the first time a 10 person team has come back to win in a knock out round.  It was because the referee’s could not have mad worst calls against the US and they still ended up winning.  I have to admit, I stopped watching the game after the second goal was scored by Brazil (I could not believe they did not call the offsides on that play).  I almost stopped watching it after they gave Hope Solo a yellow... [Read more...]

West Virginia to the Big 12. Smart or Dumb?

Big 12 sources are coming out and saying that West Virginia could be accepted as soon as later today.  As far as I know the Big 12 is doing this so they can replace Missouri if they leave for the SEC.  This apparently will happen even if Missouri decides to stay in the Big 12.  I imagine that West Virginia will be put into the North Division assuming the Big 12 makes it back to 12 teams.  This works heavily in the Big 12′s favor considering that West Virginia football is probably at an all time high and their basketball team has made the NCAA tournament six out of the last seven years.   If Missouri leaves then that will leave the Big 12 with just 9 teams next season.  West Virginia will be leaving the Big East in 2013.  With TCU... [Read more...]

2011-2012 NFL Playoff Bracket

We have come out with our playoff bracket the same day that the playoffs start.  I know this seems counter productive but the holidays have really taken a toll on the staff.   While the playoffs did not really go as we had planned them at the beginning of the season, we feel as if we were pretty close in our predictions (minus ever voting for the Cowboys for anything ever again).  I think that the Cowboys are going to take a few drastic measures in the next few weeks.  I am not sure what is going to happen but I have a feeling they are going to undergo a mini-facelift.  Anyways, we have not put our predictions on there yet as we are going to create an article specifically for that.  The down side to this years playoffs in my opinion is... [Read more...]

Dripping Springs 7-2 with one Conference Game Left.

With just one game left in the season, the Dripping Springs Tigers are living large.  The only losses they have for the season have come at the hands of two very good undefeated football teams.  Considering Lake Travis is considered the 5th best team... [Read more]

Rangers are looking good through 7 innings.

Through seven innings tonight the Rangers have been dominating.  Particularly in the fourth inning where the Rangers scored 8 runs.  Napoli and Hamilton both homered in the fourth inning to help the Rangers take a 9-1 lead going into the 8th inning.  Time is slipping away for Cleveland not just in this game but in the Wildcard race.  They will probably not get a slot in the playoffs at this point.  Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers lead the American League West by just two in a half games over the L.A. Angels.  If they do manage to slip below the Angels, its going to become increasingly difficult for them to even make a Wildcard with some of the other teams in the AL this season.  Its going to be a tight race to the end for sure.  Cleveland... [Read more...]
