What a huge Sheame
September 29, 2008
Monday has New York Mets fans burning “anything that says Mets on it.” Bryan Saunders of the New York Daily News feeling ashamed of the fact that the Mets have done the unthinkable for the second year in a row. They have blown a playoff spot going just 13-12 in the month of September. This breakdown is the second time in 2 years that the Mets have blown it with a month left in the regular season. This is just more evidence to the fact that the New York Mets cannot close the season. If they have one thing to look positively at its the fact that this years collapse was not has historical as last years. If you look at what all the Mets have been through this season with the struggle of the bullpen, the firing of Willie Randolph on June 16th, and just everything else…you start to feel bad for them. Then you see their success in the middle of the season after changes had been made and you understand that the decision needed to be made. Going 18-9 to start out with the new manager which was amazing considering they started out 6.5 games back and exactly one month later on July 17th, 2008 they were tied for the lead in the NL East. Mets fans should be ashamed because there is no reason for this to happen again. Please Freddie Wilpo…..CLEAN HOUSE….if not for you, for your friends and fans. Do something.
SideLine Blog’s Top 25 Week 5
September 28, 2008
I feel as if the AP Poll doesnt know what its doing. Do you ever feel like that? Like how Georgia was #1 in the beginning of the season and how they fell to #3 in the first week after beating someone. Anyways, I think that I can do a better job of predicting the outcome of the season instead of creating all this drama and upsets. I think thats why they do it. Anyways for the 5th week of the College Football season, here is my top 5:
- Oklahoma
- Missouri
- Alabama
- LSU
- Texas
- Texas Tech
- Penn State
- South Florida
- Utah
- Vanderbilt
- BYU
- Georgia
- Florida
- USC
- Ohio State

Dripping Springs Tigers start season 4-0
September 24, 2008

- Dripping Springs students cheer their squad during the 2007 season.
My alma mater is doing well this year (which is great because they were never that good when I was attending the school) and have started their season 4-0 with wins over Gonzales High School, Wimberley High School, McCallum High School, and Travis High School. With the start of district play this week, coach Bob Schultz has to be happy with the way things have started. Only winning 3 games last year, the Tigers have already exceeded expectations although having Lake Travis in their district makes me wonder if they will even get into the playoffs. Almost 70 percent of last year’s varsity team returns this season which makes me wonder how they are able to do so well. The defensive unit is headed by the linebackers as Scott Fyall, Mitch Lawson, and Spencer Wood are probably the biggest playmakers on the team holding Travis High School to only 6 points just this past weekend. I believe improvement is possible if the defense can muster up the strength to keep Lake Travis under 30 points. I plan to make it out to a few games whenever I get a chance to see these guys in action. You can see them in Dripping Springs on the 26th of September (or Friday) at 7:30PM as they will be taking on the Marble Falls Mustangs who are currently 3-1 (2-1 away). This should be an interesting game considering their quarterback Thor Woerner combined to pass and run for 2,000 yards last season with 22 touchdowns. He likes to run and he will more than likely get plenty of chances with the Dripping Springs “blitz all day and night” defense. The Mustangs are coming off of a shutout win over Reagan last week.
Texas Will be undefeated by the time they get to Oklahoma.
September 23, 2008
You heard it here first. I am telling you right now that the Texas Longhorns are going to blow through the Arkansas game (I dont care how bad you think it is to just breeze through a game especially against the SEC) and will have a hard fought nose to nose battle with the Buffaloes of Colorado. Texas is coming off a 52-10 victory against Rice while Arkansas got embarrased by Alabama. I have been talking to quite a few people who have been quite adamant about Arkansas putting it to Texas, but I am here to tell you right now, that I will shut my blog down if Texas loses to Arkansas, because if Texas loses, then Hell must be freezing over and I need to get on the first Google space craft out of here.
The real question here is whether or not Cody Johnson is the man behind Colt Mccoy. Will he be lining up in the Running Back position or will one of the other numerous running back choices come in? I will be the last person to tell you that Texas has a great running back situation because they dont. I would love to see them have a guy who ran for 200 plus yards a game, but they do have depth. Colt Mccoy is the leading rusher at 194 yards and averaging about 8 yards a carry. Cody Johnson, Vondrell McGee, and Foswhitt Whittaker will surely be sleeping a lot less before game day as Mack Brown has stated that its going to be a game time decision. When it comes to the SEC and Big 12 I only have one solid answer for you…

Basically what I am trying to say is…Bring it Arkansas…
Can East Carolina play with the big boys?
September 20, 2008
I am sitting here watching East Carolina run with North Carolina State but its more of a back and forth style game and I am wondering if they could deserve a BCS bid. Don’t get me wrong guys, you look amazing. I actually expected you guys to do well and you know that, but can you get it done with the USC’s, UT’s, Oklahoma or Georgia’s? I mean Ohio State got the butts handed to them by USC so what makes you think you can hang with the big boys? I just watched you go 4 downs on the 1 yard line against the North Carolina State defense? I dont know guys, you are starting to scare me, I had you picked to lose 1 game this season and I was hoping it would be Virginia. Your defense will hold out though, anyways I hope you guys are prepared to play with the big boys and if you go undefeated will BYU beat you out? I feel bad for you guys if they do.
Colorado Upsets West Virginia
September 19, 2008
17-14 in Overtime. Was it really an upset? I mean I was expecting a good game to say the least, but what I got was probably the best game I have watched live all season. Yes, this was a home game for the Buffaloes but West Virginia being ranked #8 at the beginning of the season seemed to be looking past this game and to the future conference games. This is just proof that the Big 12 is the strongest conference in the nation right now. I am tired of the liberal, predominantly Eastern news media drooling over the SEC. Colorado has a rough schedule over the next month.
- 9-18-08 #21 West Virginia (W) 17-14 (OT)
- 9-27-08 #24 Florida State
- 10-04-08 #7 Texas
- 10-11-08 #19 Kansas
- 10-25-08 #5 Missouri
The only saving grace this team has at this point is that they dont have to play Texas Tech or Oklahoma Sooners. I am telling you guys this conference is HOT!! With the exception to Iowa State, Texas A&M, and Baylor, we have a very nice conference. Man, Colorado looked good tonight, I am excited for this weekend.
Can Colorado Upset West Virginia?
September 19, 2008
Coming off the hard loss to East Carolina I would look for the Moutaineers Quarterback Pat White to come out throwing bombs and scrambling his way to first downs. Another huge test for the Big 12. This is a lower end Big 12 Team up against quite possibly the Big East favorite. I think the Buffaloes will throw the book at these guys and if they can take an early lead and stop Pat White from making big plays, I have no doubt the Colorado Buffaloes can upset West Virginia.
MLB Playoffs start October 1rst!
September 18, 2008
Major League Baseball has announced that the playoffs will be starting on October 1rst. This is the second year in a row that the game is starting on a Wednesday. This has fans questioning whether this is a good idea or not. A lot of fans are saying that its killing a tradition while others question whether it will get as high of ratings that it would starting on a weekend. I have a couple of things to say about this:
- Its not that long of a tradition…about 30 years or so which could be considered tradition if it hadnt started during the week for the 60 years before that.
- Two words: College Football. If you expect to have any kind of ratings you need to put it on a night that doesnt have a whole lot else. What I am trying to say is that if the games started this weekend, would you be watching Arizona State vs. Georgia or the Red Sox and Astros? If youre a hardcore baseball fan its probably the Sox game, but if you are a coniseur of all sports, or a football fan you are watching the Georgia Bulldogs probably whoopin up on some Sun Devil soft offense. Oh ya, and dont forget that thing called the National Football League because Sunday is pretty much dedicated to church and football.
Bottom Line: Baseball fans…Get over it. Take your chew out and stop whining. You need to start gearing up for World Series starting October 27th.
Josh Howard disrespects America.
September 18, 2008
As is smoking pot, disregarding a coaches direct order, and getting arrested for street racing werent enough, Josh Howard is now disrespecting America. During the National Anthem Mr. Howard decided to get a little face time with a camera phone. You do not even want to know how stupid this makes him sound. If he was not such a good basketball player, I would ask that the Dallas Mavericks kick him off the team, but I know that would never happen and so its pointless dreaming. Nevertheless, I am sure he lost a few fans today, especially some black ones for his comments. Hey Josh, grow up.
I would write more, but this doesnt even deserve publicity.
