Week 2 Division 2 Football Scores
September 10, 2009

West Texas A&M drops out of the top 25 for the first time in two seasons with a loss to Central Oklahoma. Things are not looking good for the Buffaloes as they have dropped the first two games of the season. Texas A&M Kingsville, however, has had a huge turn around season winning their first two games of the season including opening up against Delta State. What surprises me the most I think is how Northwest Missouri is still ranked ahead of Kingsville even though they have lost a game. Their strength of schedule must be rediculous. Abilene Christian is off to their usually slaughter of every team they place winning their first game against the #2 team in the nation at the time Northwest Missouri and then crushing this past weeks opponent (Fort Lewis) 58-10. They seem to dismantle everything they come into contact with which isnt any surprise since University of Texas quarterback Colt Mccoy was about 4 inches from being at the school. Anyways here are the scores in no particular order…the winner will be in bold:
Central Oklahoma 24
West Texas A&M (13) 17
Carson-Newman (25) 14

West Texas A&M 2009 Regular Season Schedule
December 21, 2008
For West Texas A&M, the 2009 schedule is just another schedule of teams to play during the year. One would almost expect them to get a playoff berth next season considering how well they did this season. They got shafted in the sense that they only get 5 home games and play 6 on the road. They start off the season with two games at home and then travel to Washington and Oklahoma in week 3 and 4. I would look for West Texas A&M to end up 9-2 if they have a great season and 7-4 which will hopefully still give them a playoff berth. Whats sad is they could go into their conference schedule 1-3 or 2-2. They have some monsters to start out with and then should be able to manhandle everyone but Abilene Christian which is one of their away games. Its going to be an interesting season to say the least and with the recent firing of Quarterbacks Coach Ryan Leif, its going to be interesting to see how they do next year with a new Quarterbacks Coach.

West Texas A&M falls to #11 in the polls
October 22, 2008
What started as a blowout win for Abilene Christian, ended up being a showdown thriller. What sealed the deal was the two touchdown runs with 5:54 left in the game by Bernard Scott. One was for 47 yards which got the crowd moaning while the 65 yard breakout run pretty much silenced every single person in disbelief. A lot of fans left at halftime (very un-West Texas like of them) but actually ended up missing an amazing comeback try.
So what killed West Texas A&M? Two words, Billy Malone. Bill Malone threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more. The Senior had 407 all-purpose yards throughout the whole game. What gets me is Scott was averaging over 10 yards a carry the other night. He had over 26 carries which means he had over 260 yards on the ground. That to me, is just unbelievable. I dont understand how the #5 team in the nation can allow those kind of stats when they are just obliterating other teams year round.
Another Question I have is whether or not Abilene Christian deservers the #1 spot in the polls. We recently saw Penn State jump several spots after beating Wisconsin, Purdue, and Michigan State, so is that a far cry from what we have seen here? Who has Grand Valley played that makes them the team that deserves the #1 spot in the polls. Anyways, I worry that this blows any chance for West Texas A&M to make the playoffs. With a loss that bad, it makes me wonder if the players are starting to question their abilities to hang with the big boys because to me…Saturday night there was a clear message from Abilene Christian. Basically this, “You come to play or dont come at all.” This game had Alabama – Georgia written all over it. Well here are the up to date rankings for Division 2 Football:
1. Grand Valley State, Mich. (23) 7-0

I just dont see how you can argue some of those teams should not be up in the top 5. I feel bad for Central Missouri and Midwestern State schools, as they have probably both left the Top 25 but that also opens up a couple of spots for some of the other D-2 schools to step it up…
