2011-2012 NFL Playoff Bracket

January 7, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

We have come out with our playoff bracket the same day that the playoffs start.  I know this seems counter productive but the holidays have really taken a toll on the staff.   While the playoffs did not really go as we had planned them at the beginning of the season, we feel as if we were pretty close in our predictions (minus ever voting for the Cowboys for anything ever again).  I think that the Cowboys are going to take a few drastic measures in the next few weeks.  I am not sure what is going to happen but I have a feeling they are going to undergo a mini-facelift.  Anyways, we have not put our predictions on there yet as we are going to create an article specifically for that.  The down side to this years playoffs in my opinion is that the Philadelphia Eagles/Dallas Cowboys are not participating at all in this years playoffs.  I would have told you this is bad news for Michael Vick but I am pretty sure he kept his job at the end of the season when they finished it off with four straight wins.

Detroit Lions Start the Season 1-0

The leagues worst team for the past few seasons has finally decided to step up their game by taking out one of the top NFC teams in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Matt Stafford threw for over 300 yards (305 yards) and 3 touchdowns which is pretty sick if you ask me. I think he is coming into his own in this league and will probably grow to be one of the greats. He was picked to do well in the NFL (being the #1 pick in the NFL will do that for you) but I don’t think anyone thought that he would be this ready, this quickly for everything that has been thrown at him. Having watched the game, I could not tell if the Lions were playing that well of if it was just that the Buccaneers we overrated coming into the regular season. This game was as exciting as it was close and I would honestly have to say that neither quarterback really disappointed their team.  Both of them threw picks which really wasn’t all that bad.  While Freeman may have only had one touchdown, Stafford had 3 so that’s an average ratio.  Tampa Bay’s running game just wasn’t sticking with just 56 yards rushing and only one first down via rushing.  I guess that would be reasonable had Josh Freeman not had half the rushing yards including the first down run of 15 yards.  LaGarrette Blount needs to step it up if he expects to be taken seriously in this league.    Sunday, the Lions play the Chiefs and look for the Lions to possibly start their season off 2-0 for the first time since 1997 when they got that overtime victory against the Vikings.  Remember, that’s the same game that Tavaris Jackson threw for zero touchdowns and four interceptions.  2-0, I think, would give Detroit fans some closure as to all the previous disappointing seasons.  Getting to the playoffs would definitely help also.

Dallas Cowboys 2010 Regular Season Schedule

First of all I want to start of by telling you that there is one team in the league that has 6 stand alone games (aka games which you have no competition for ratings usually during prime-time or a major holiday) and that team is the Dallas Cowboys baby!@!@  A bunch of teams have 5 prime-time games, but Dallas being America’s Team and all, got the best deal out of any teams.  This, however, means that the Cowboys will have the 3rd roughest regular season schedule.  One of the things that you can thank the NFL for is that finally they have wised up and made all Week 17 games divisional games.  That means there hopefully wont be very many games that are meaningless at the end of the season. I think its just great that they have the Cowboys playing Detroit on November 21rst and then have them playing again 4 days later against the defending Superbowl champion New Orleans Saints.   A week or so after than they travel over to Indianapolis to play Peyton Manning and the Colts.  They will however, have 3 primetime games in a row which is actually pretty cool if you ask me.  That means that there will only be one game that I wont be able to see this upcoming season and its the one against Arizona so I am not even sure I care all that much.  Yes, its pretty clear who the NFL thinks are the best teams.  If you are getting as excited as me, you cant wait for the regular season to start.  Well I can tell you right now, that with training camps finally under way today, that this football season could be the best one for the Cowboys in a long time.  On top of them playing a pretty tough schedule, they have no football to look forward to next season.  I think that this could easily be the motivation that the Cowboys have been looking for.  Anyways, check out their rough schedule and tell me what you think.
