Villanova eeeks out Saint. Joseph’s in 2nd Half Push
December 12, 2008 by #1 Sportsfan · Leave a Comment
At the end of every practice, most players end with some kind of drill done religiously. For Scottie Reynolds every practice is ended with shooting around and free throws which help him to finish games, pad his stats, and overcome adversity. It paid off last night against Saint Joseph’s. The Wildcats found themselves down by 9 at halftime and wondering if they deserved the #12 ranking. By the end of the game, my questions had been answered and I was able to watch a great college basketball game. Saint Joseph’s is the real deal folks, and Villanova is getting polished. My only question about Villanova is how they are going to play against Top 25 teams…I mean thats great and all if you can get out of the first or second round, but the only ranked team they have played beat them by nine. Don’t worry though, he will have plenty of chances come January. Exactly 1/2 their last 18 games are Top 25 ranked teams at this time including #2, #3, #10, #13, #16 and more. To give you an idea, Texas was ranked #6 when they played Villanova and beat them by 9. I would say come tournment time, this team will more than likely be a 5 loss team ranked somewhere in the #11-#15 by the time the tournament comes around.

NCAA Mens Top 25 – Preseason

This looks to be a great season in mens college basketball and to no suprise North Carolina is the early favorite. Davidson breaks the Top 25 at the beginning of the season for the first time since I can remember. I know its Stephen Curry’s first time in the top 25 preseason.

Nuggets Waive Juwan Howard
November 8, 2008 by #1 Sportsfan · 1 Comment
One of the good guys is done for. 35 year old Juwan Howard is no longer going to be apart of the Denver Nuggets as they have decided to let him go because of the Allen Iverson Trade. I am not really sure how that works, but I dont think its right. Although he has only played in 3 games, averaged 0.7 points per game, and 1.7 minutes, I think that the Nuggets are going to have to deal with injuries later on in the season and I would have expected Howard to step in at that point, but it doesnt look like thats going to happen. Denver fans were wondering earlier this year if he was going to be able to stay on as he had stated that he wanted to make it to the playoffs again. When I look at the Nuggets big men, I see Nene who is really soft and Kenyan Martin who is very injury prone and I wonder what they are going to have as a force in the middle. I dont see anything and I dont see the Nuggets doing well this season. They will be lucky to make the playoffs with teams like the Trailblazers and Hornets getting better and better every season. I think this was a raw deal for Howard and I hope he ends up somewhere special. He deserves it.
Spurs Save 0-4 Start with Double Overtime Victory

Going into last nights game, the Spurs we very bothered by the fact they hadnt gone 0-3 since 1973 when the franchise was still in the ABA League. Tony Parker was very bothered by the situation as you could tell when he was playing. He had 55 points last night including a last second shot from 20 ft to send it into a second overtime. Al Jefferson made Tim Duncan look stupid with 2.5 seconds left in the game but after a timeout called by the Spurs, they were able to advance the ball past halfcourt. They inbounded the ball to Tony Parker running to his right, he caught the ball, took one dribble left, puts the ball up with 1.2 seconds left…swish. The 2nd overtime was the Tony Parker show and the Spurs were able to pull off the victory 129-125 after two overtime periods. Tony Parker ended the game with 55 points (second highest in career) and 10 assists. Duncan had 30 points and 16 rebounds. Jefferson and Miller were the leading scorers for the Timberwolves. Jefferson had 30 points and 14 rebounds while Miller had 25 points and 7 rebounds.

I thought I would start adding NBA scores to the site even though they are just in Preseason. You have to understand that this is not necessarily how they are going to play during the regular season. Since it is the Preseason, the stars of each team are not going to be playing full games.

Memphis (2-4) 86
Indiana (3-2) 112
