Dripping Springs Tigers start season 4-0

- Dripping Springs students cheer their squad during the 2007 season.
My alma mater is doing well this year (which is great because they were never that good when I was attending the school) and have started their season 4-0 with wins over Gonzales High School, Wimberley High School, McCallum High School, and Travis High School. With the start of district play this week, coach Bob Schultz has to be happy with the way things have started. Only winning 3 games last year, the Tigers have already exceeded expectations although having Lake Travis in their district makes me wonder if they will even get into the playoffs. Almost 70 percent of last year’s varsity team returns this season which makes me wonder how they are able to do so well. The defensive unit is headed by the linebackers as Scott Fyall, Mitch Lawson, and Spencer Wood are probably the biggest playmakers on the team holding Travis High School to only 6 points just this past weekend. I believe improvement is possible if the defense can muster up the strength to keep Lake Travis under 30 points. I plan to make it out to a few games whenever I get a chance to see these guys in action. You can see them in Dripping Springs on the 26th of September (or Friday) at 7:30PM as they will be taking on the Marble Falls Mustangs who are currently 3-1 (2-1 away). This should be an interesting game considering their quarterback Thor Woerner combined to pass and run for 2,000 yards last season with 22 touchdowns. He likes to run and he will more than likely get plenty of chances with the Dripping Springs “blitz all day and night” defense. The Mustangs are coming off of a shutout win over Reagan last week.

how did you get that picture? don’t forget that the district totally changed this year.
WOOOH! tigers. 9-0… going 10-0 this holloween
