Women’s Soccer is Back! United States Defies Ref’s Bad Calls.

The United States has finally come out from underneath Mia Hamm’s extremely large shadow.  This game is obviously going to go down as a top 10 game of all time in either Women’s or Men’s soccer.  It was not because the United States scored the latest goal in Women’s World Cup history and its not even because its the first time a 10 person team has come back to win in a knock out round.  It was because the referee’s could not have mad worst calls against the US and they still ended up winning.  I have to admit, I stopped watching the game after the second goal was scored by Brazil (I could not believe they did not call the offsides on that play).  I almost stopped watching it after they gave Hope Solo a yellow card (which by the way is almost never called in situations like that because there really wasn’t a rebound to get).  Marta was quoted as saying afterwards, “We didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s how soccer is.”  Look, I get that Brazil is all about soccer and babies are pretty much born with soccer balls and what not, but Brazil does NOT take their women’s sports seriously.  She can really think whatever she wants, but she lost about as fair and square as she could have in this kind of situation.  The point is, that the game should have been 2-0 at the end of the regulation instead of 2-2.  Abby Wambach scored a header goal with about 30 seconds left of stoppage time in the 2nd half of the overtime play yesterday.  It ended up being the latest goal ever scored in Women’s Soccer history.  The United States controlled the ball for the most part whenever they had even sides.  The funny part is that they still looked dominate even playing a player down. The United States can look forward to the

You didn’t think I would leave you hanging did you?  Of crouse not.  Here is the video of the final goal against Brazil.
